Alaska Moves Forward on Recreational Program Rules

January 1, 2015- Efforts to implement Ballot Measure 2, which legalizes possession of up to 1 ounce and growing of up to 6 plants for personal use, are underway. The first question is who will run the state’s recreational program. The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is currently serving as the face of the program but the legislature has proposed establishing a new marijuana control board to create program rules. The fear is that opponents will use a separate board to gut the program by stocking it with anti-marijuana members.
